War, Peace, and Freedom + November 4 – 7:00 pm Standing Rock High School, Fort Yates $ November 5 – 7:00 pm Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck + November 6 – 2:00 pm First Lutheran Church, Washburn A Concert in honor of our veterans and those who died in war, featuring two famous compositions: Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem and Randall Thompson’s Testament of Freedom. The concert also will include a Native American Drum Circle which will play veterans and flag songs. The concert is presented as a partnership between the Dakota Pro Musica, Bismarck State College Music Department and the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra. |
O Come Let Us Adore Him * December 16 – 7:30 pm Basilica of St. James, Jamestown * December 17 – 5:00 pm Church of St. Joseph, Mandan * December 18 – 7:00 pm Cathedral of the Holy Spirit A special service of Advent and Christmas Lessons and Carols created in collaboration with local parishes. The service includes traditional scripture readings which tell the story from Adam to the birth of Christ, traditional and modern choral anthems and carols, and prayers of reflection and joy for the coming Christ child. |
Dreams, Fables, and Tales $ January 22 – 3:00 pm Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library A concert of music all written by American composer Hollis Thoms, based on three iconic pieces of literature: three dreams from Dante’s La Vita Nouva, Chaucer’s Chanticleer from the Canterbury Tales, and Robert Burn’s Tam O’Shanter. The performance features three short one-act operas, with a chamber ensemble, choir, and vocal soloists in a semi-staged performance. |
A Baroque Tenebrae + March 17 – 7:00 pm Assumption Abbey Church, Richardton * March 18 – 5:00 pm Church of St. Joseph, Mandan $ March 19 – 3:00 pm Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck A concert of choral and vocal music telling the story of the Passion of Jesus Christ. The concert will feature selections from Pergolesi’s famous Stabat Mater and Buxtehude’s Jesu Membra Nostri, and a variety of motets connected to the traditional Tenebrae and the veneration of the Cross services. |
My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose + May 13 – 5:00 pm First Lutheran Church, Minot * May 14 – 3:00 pm Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck The 3rd annual Mother’s Day weekend concerts will focus on music of love and beauty in celebrations of our mothers. The concert will include a variety of choral selections using texts of famous poets and writers from the Medieval to today. The concert will be light-hearted, fun, beautiful, and joyful. |
