October 5 - 7:30 pm - First Lutheran Church, Minot October 6 - 7:30 pm - Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck October 8 - 3:00 pm - Bemidji High School Auditorium, Bemidji Dakota Pro Musica presents a special "Building Community" concert event, "Considering Matthew Shepard" in partnership with The Minot Chamber Chorale. "Considering Matthew Shepard" is a 90-minute concert musical which uses diary entries, news reports, and police reports to tell the story of Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming who was kidnapped, beaten, and left to die on a fence in rural Wyoming on October 6, 1998 because of his sexual identity. This composition is not just a sad retelling of his story, but a call for the audience and our community to find ways to love and respect each other, no matter who we are and what we believe. The piece ultimately ends with hopefulness for a brighter future. |
