Inclusivity and Accessibility
Dakota Pro Musica believes that all people in our communities should find themselves reflected in some aspect of the work and values of the organization. We strive to select repertoire for concert programs so that people from various cultural and religious backgrounds, and personal identities may be honored throughout a season of programming. Dakota Pro Musica's work and repertoire is not intended to promote any social, political or religious movement or philosophy, but to highlight and honor the people, celebrations, commemorations, and cultures with in our diverse community.
Those within the organization and audience members with limited mobility are provided all possible accommodations. We desire to have families attending our concerts and understand that children, especially babies, may make sounds during performances and welcome those sounds in our performing space. We aim to record and upload every concert so that people unable to attend a concert in person will still be able to experience our shared community.
Dakota Pro Musica does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or physical ability,
and is working to have musicians, board members, and audience that represent all people.
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that our organization offers performances and outreach programs in venues that encompass the traditional tribal homelands of Dakota, Lakota, Nakota, Turtle Mountain Chippewa, Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, and other Indigenous people. We acknowledge, understand, and value that this land was and is stewarded by the people who lived here before colonization and live here still, and are thankful for your continued stewardship of this land.

About Dakota Pro Musica
Dakota Pro Musica is a 501(c)3 nonprofit music and performing arts organization that provides professional-caliber performances and educational outreach programming to Bismarck and communities across North Dakota. The primary ensemble of the Dakota Pro Musica is a professional choral ensemble made up of musicians from across central North Dakota. We are this only fully professional choral ensemble in the state of North Dakota, and strive to serve the entire state with our programming. |
The Dakota Pro Musica was founded by Dr. Jason Thoms, Director of Choral Activities at Bismarck State College, in October 2020. Dr. Thoms moved to Bismarck from the New York City area in August of 2020, where he was a conductor and a professional bass-baritone soloist and chorister with many ensembles. Dr. Thoms created Dakota Pro Music using the professional choral models of some of America's top choral ensembles. This model is project-based which means that instead of weekly rehearsals, musicians gather for most of their rehearsals and performances for just one week at a time. Dr. Thoms is in high demand as a professional choral singer and soloist. |
